Billie Eilish makes her acting debut in the first trailer for Prime Video’s Beyoncé-inspired series Swarm, in which she portrays a hypnotist with hidden, sinister ambitions who snaps her fingers.
The artist formerly known as Billie Eilish supports the antagonist.
In her unexpected acting debut on Amazon Video’s Swarm, Grammy winner Billie plays a powerful hypnotist who, with the snap of her fingers, convinces Dre (Dominique Fishback) to revert to using her birth name, Billie, rather than Kayla. After this is done, Billie’s character will offer, “Tell me something you regret.”
A montage showing Dre engaging in various unsavory activities, including cleaning up a gory murder scene, then plays. Dre seems to have more than one thing she wishes she could take back.
Billie’s character, upon returning to her workplace, inquires of Dre, “Did you injure someone?” When Dre confirms her suspicions, Billie’s character beams and adds, “Very wonderful.”
On March 17, Swarm, co-created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, premieres. It follows Dre, whose fascination with a global pop sensation leads her on a dark and twisted trip throughout the country. Also, Billie isn’t the only big-name guest host likely to show up. Chloe Bailey, Paris Jackson, Rickey Thompson, and Rory Culkin will also be in the limited series.
Pop sensation Ni’Jah, portrayed by Nirine S. Brown, has many similarities to the real-life Beyoncé, and it doesn’t take a detective to figure them out.
Because Ni’Jah’s cultish following is called the Swarm, it sounds a lot like the BeyHive. Not to mention the scene in which Dre applies for a new credit card to acquire expensive concert tickets from a website similar to Ticketmaster. Sorry, your Renaissance excursion was marred by unpleasant memories.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Glover quipped, “BeyHive don’t murder us; it’s not that horrible, it’s very awesome!”
