Influencer Rachel Hollis is grieving the loss of her ex-husband, the late Disney executive Dave Hollis “As a group, we are heartbroken. I don’t know what to say; my heart is too crushed right now.”
There is sadness in the Hollis household.
In a statement sent to the Los Angeles Times on February 14, Dave Hollis’ family revealed the former Disney distribution executive’s death at the age of 47. A family representative stated he died at his Texas home from “heart difficulties” after he had just been hospitalized.
Rachel Hollis, author of Girl, Wash Your Face and a former spouse of Dave, has also confirmed the tragedy, saying that she and their four children are “devastated” by his departure.
Her Instagram post on February 14 said, “I have no words and my heart is too crushed to find them.” Please pray for the children as we try to deal with an unimaginable situation.
After 16 years of marriage, the pair announced their separation in June 2020.
The two of them “started as best friends 18 years ago and the fact is that core friendship and the parts of us that work so well, have become a band-aid for the parts of us that don’t,” Rachel said on Instagram at the time. Over the past three years, we have put in countless hours of labor to make this a reality.
Moreover, she said, “we have decided that it is in both of our best interests to dissolve our marriage at this time.”
Although their time together has come to an end, Dave emphasized that their co-parenting connection would continue indefinitely.
In a post to Instagram in February of 2021, he reflected on the partnership they’d always have in parenting their children. “But on the flip side, it was the RIGHT and BEST thing for each of us, and for our children, who will be raised by the improved versions of us.”
Dave, a motivational speaker by profession, spent 17 years at Walt Disney Studios before becoming chief executive of the content firm launched by Rachel in 2018.
